ISO 16028 Flat Face Hydraulic Couplers: Complete Identification & Size Guide

What Is an ISO 16028 Coupler?
ISO 16028 is the international standard for flat face (also called "flush face" or "non-spill") hydraulic quick couplers. Unlike older-style couplers where you can see an exposed pin or poppet valve sticking out of the middle, a flat face coupler's sealing face sits flush — hence the name. Both halves look almost like two flat metal disks when disconnected.
Manufacturers built this standard specifically to solve two problems with older couplers:
- Spillage — flat face couplers are designed to trap almost no oil when you disconnect them, which is why you'll find them on any machine where hydraulic fluid cleanliness matters (skid steers, mini excavators, attachments that get swapped often).
